MICHAEL Douglas has revealed his true feelings on the temporary split he experienced with his wife of nearly 15 years, Catherine Zeta Jones.

The Hollywood legend – who briefly split from Catherine in 2013 – discussed the difficult period of time, suggesting it was a blip in their relationship.

In a recent interview, Michael spoke about his marriage to the brunette beauty, as well as his career and very public battle with cancer.

“We had a little bump in the road. The problem in this business is that everything is so public,” he told the Mail.

He added: “I love Catherine as much, more than I ever have. And hopefully the feeling’s mutual.

“We worked things out – if both people want to work something out and make it better, you can do it. You can’t do it if it’s just one person.”

They married in 2000, but briefly separated in 2013 after a number of issues, including Michael’s battle with cancer and Catherine’s struggles with bipolar disorder.

But the Wall Street actor seemed positive about the couple’s future, saying: “We’re about to have our 15th wedding anniversary and it feels great.”

Catherine recently joined her husband on the red carpet for the Actors Fund Gala, where she and their two children offered support to Michael who was awarded the $1 million Genesis Prize in Israel.

And Michael made sure he showed his appreciation to his family during his acceptance speech, saying: “They inspire me, they challenge me and they know that no husband or father could love them more.”
