Republican President Edgar Lungu says there is need to venture and invest in other sectors considering that mining is a diminishing activity.

And the Head of State has redirected Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margret Mwanakatwe to carry out random inspections and see to it that super markets are stocked with locally grown products.

Speaking during the official opening of Embassy Shopping Mall in Lusaka this afternoon, President Lungu notes that Zambia has been depending on copper mining as a core economic driver, noting the need to venture in other sectors.

President Lungu states that it is through such investments that the private sector can work with government in alleviating poverty by creating more employment opportunities for the people.

He says the PF government is in a hurry to develop the nation and that the private sector should partner with government to bring development closer to the people.

President Lungu has since urged cooperating partners to find space as they put up such investments to accommodate the local people.

Speaking earlier, Click Zambia Managing Director Akivasi Lakopoulos says a total of US$15 million has spent to construct the mall which will accommodate about 46 business outlets.
