Mungo agrees, excessive debt is bad for Zambia’s future

Aspiring Munali Member of Parliament Patrick Mungo has added his voice in urging government to be wary excessive debt contraction will negatively impact Zambia’s economic performance in future.

Mr. Mungo is encouraging government to focus on generating revenue locally without necessarily increasing the taxes.

In an interview with Qfm News Mr. Mungo has particularly called on the Ministry of Finance to take cognizance of its responsibility and task the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) raise this revenue.

Mr. Mungo states that the ZRA needs to make its presence felt in all parts of the country without exception for any District or Town.

He says he has taken note, for example, that in Nchelenge District of Luapula province there appear to be no ZRA presence for tax collection.

Mr. Mungo notes that this is despite the District having numerous established business houses.

He has wondered how the country can in this case raise revenue when revenue that should be collected through taxes is not fully being accounted for.
