Maneuvers to defer 2016 polls is a joke- SACCORD

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has described as a joke maneuvers to defer the 2016 general elections to 2022.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says such maneuvers must not be entertained because they are not in the interest of the Zambian people.

Mr. Cheembe says his organization is therefore challenging President Edgar Lungu to come out clean and distance himself from such alleged maneuvers.

Mr. Cheembe has told Qfm News by telephone that SACCORD holds the view that it is in fact irrelevant to even debate such a subject because it will only be a distraction from real issues the country is facing.

He states that the current constitutional making process, national budget deficit and divisions on tribal lines are some of the critical issues that need immediate attention in the country.
