Lack of access to farming mechanisms limiting small scale farmers -ZCF

The Zambia Cooperatives Federation (ZCF) has observed that small-scale farmers are unable to graduate into commercial farming because of lack of access to farming mechanisms.

ZCF Director General James Chirwa notes that access to farming mechanization is still low among small-scale farmers, which is affecting their productivity.

Mr. Chirwa says there is need to address the issue of inability to access farm equipment by small-scale farmers to improve their production.

He has since urged small-scale farmers to pay for their farming equipment obtained through loans to enable others benefit from the programme.

Mr Chirwa has encouraged other small scale farmers to apply for the loans to help them acquire machinery.

Mr. Chirwa states that small scale farmers play a very important role in the economic growth of the nation.
