AG called on to probe govt expenditure to Reedbuck Lodge

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has called on the Office of the Auditor General to urgently probe the expenditures made by Government to Reedbuck Lodge to carter for the lodging of the former first family.

And YALI has also called for the probing of operational expenditures at the Road Development Agency (RDA) on fuels for staff pool vehicles.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza in a statement says his organization is saddened that Government can make a payment of over K2 million for a 5 month accommodation for the former first family at a private Lodge.

Mr. Mwanza says this is the amount of money Government can use to buy a very decent and high class transit house of all former first families than abuse taxpayers money in such a manner.

And Mr. Mwanza says his organization is also saddened with some reports reaching them that RDA is spending a colossal amount of K300, 000 on fuels for staff pool vehicles with Tom Cards every month and that the wage Bill for RDA has since risen from about K2 million to K7 million when staff salaries were raised with those that we getting K4, 000, now earning K15, 000 per month.

He says the Auditor General must as a matter of interest in the payments being made by RDA to Total Filling station for these pool vehicles ascertain the necessity of such huge monthly payments on fuels.
