72 families evicted from Lusaka’s ANC flats

About seventy two families in Lusaka have been left in the cold after being evicted from the flats they were occupying believed to have been purchased by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Commissioner Emily Sikazwe.

The evicted families have argued that the ANC flats located on plot number 105A along Mwayi Road in Villa Elizabeth did not belong to the Africa National Congress (ANC), the ruling party in South Africa, as claimed by Ms Sikazwe.

They told QFM News that the said property is in the name of Star Furniture and no one can claim ownership of the flats.
They have vowed to die and be buried in the premises of the flats.

The evicted families went on to block Mwayi road and lit a fire on the road to prevent Police officers who had earlier locked the flats from gaining access to the flats.

They have since appealed to President Edgar Lungu to intervene in the matter.
