Opposition People’s Party (PP) President Mike Mulongoti says he will not allow other political parties to draw him in their battles with the ruling Patriotic Front.
Mr. Mulongoti says his party is a mature and realistic party and has nothing to do with the enmity other political parties have with the ruling PF.
He has told Qfm News by telephone his party will continue to commend the PF government whenever it does a good thing and criticize it when it errs.
Mr. Mulongoti adds that his party will in its conduct of mature politics criticize other political parties as well including the Rainbow Party.
He says this is why the Rainbow Party, much as it has the right to propagate its ideology of socialism, must also understand that others who do not support such an ideology have a right to disagree.
Mr Mulongoti says when talks against socialism, he is talking with empirical evidence of the experiences of a socialist type of governance in Zambia under the United National Independence Party (UNIP) regime.
He has recalled that the empirical evidence of the socialist doctrine under the UNIP government was that of poverty and destruction of industry, the more reason his party is skeptical about any political party that has plans to take Zambia back to the socialist era.
