Government says it is still considering allowing a fourth mobile service provider in the country to allow competition in telecommunication services.

Last year government indicated that the fourth mobile license can only be given after digital migration.

Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Deputy Minister Richwell Siamunene has told QFM News that there are certain issues that government is looking at before allowing a fourth mobile service provider to come on board.

Mr. Siamunene says there is also need to promote competition in telecommunication sector so that mobile service providers can provide quality services to their subscribers.

Mr. Siamunene says government is still looking at that issue critically saying government wants to promote competition in the telecommunication sector.

He believes that once the fourth mobile service provider is introduced, service costs will come down because of competition.
