Green party president Peter Sinkamba has charged that the country’s economy is in danger following the budget deficit as announced by finance minister Alexander Chikwanda in parliament.

Mr. Sinkamba notes that this why the people of Zambia were against the idea of reducing the mineral royalty tax citing that the people knew what the revision of tax would come with.

He says it is sad that the people of Zambia have to suffer simply because mining houses do not want the Zambians to get a fair share of their minerals.

Mr. Sinkamba says borrowing externally to fund unfinanced budget is not a solution noting that the country already has a lot of external debts which it should concentrate on servicing.

He adds that this should be a wakeup call for government o be careful when coming up with certain policies and listen to the stakeholders and the Zambians when they speak out.

Mr. Sinkamba further states that government should find a better way of raising funds to bridge the gap in the budget and not to borrow stressing that the consequences of borrowing are bigger and serious than what they think.
