Govt to announce maize floor price soon

Government says it is waiting for the maize moisture content to come down to the right percentage before announcing this year’s maize floor price.

Agriculture and Livestock Deputy Minister Greyford Monde has told Qfm News that government is likely to announce the maize floor price before the end of July.

He has since appealed to farmers throughout the country to remain calm as government awaits the moisture content to be at the right level.

Mr. Monde however notes that private sector buyers who do not rely on the government floor price have already started purchasing maize from farmers.
