PERRIE Edwards mum has defended her daughter over allegations she forced Zayn Malik to quit One Direction.

Since the Bradford-born boy decided to leave Harry Styles and co, Perrie has been dubbed ‘Yoko Ono’ by Directioners.

But Debbie Edwards has made it clear the singer didn’t have a say in Zayn’s decision.

She told The Mirror: “It was his decision and nothing to do with Perrie.”

Debbie also insisted that despite her daughter being pictured without her engagement ring on numerous occasions, she and Zayn are still going strong.

“They’ve always been happy,” she said.

“Zayn’s one of the nicest boys I’ve ever met and I couldn’t imagine Perrie with anyone else.

“I feel like he’s already my son, they’ve been together since she was on The X Factor so he’s part of the family.”

Debbie added that Perrie won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon as Little Mix are too busy working on their third album.

She added: “They’ve got plenty of time, they’re still young. I visit quite a lot to cook them Sunday roasts. She could be like, ‘Mam, I’m upset, take the day off and spend it with me,’ and I would.”
