Msoni develops cold feet on suing Chanda

All People’s Congress President Nason Msoni is contemplating not going ahead with his earlier threat to sue Presidential Press Aide Amos Chanda over his alleged defamatory statement against him.

Mr Msoni who had given Mr Chanda a seven days ultimatum to retract with a public apology the alleged defamatory statement in which he referred to his proposal on government international trips as foolish says he has realized that suing Mr Chanda would be killing a fly on the wall using a sledge hammer.Nason

Mr. Msoni says this is notwithstanding the fact that his lawyers are still studying the alleged defamatory statement.

He states that he has been advised by his party not to lose focus in giving counsel to President Edgar Lungu, labeling Mr. Chanda as a political decoy upon whom time should not be wasted.

Mr Msoni has however told QFM that this does not mean he might not sue President’s Press Aide because he firmly believes Mr. Chanda did defame him and therefore all options are still on the table as far as he is concerned.

And Mr. Msoni has maintained that President Lungu should be called upon to effectively supervise his government.

Mr. Msoni states that from the look of things, it appears to him that President Lungu is not effectual at supervising his Ministers as evidenced by the manner in which Ministers have continued to travel abroad.

He is of the view that if President Lungu was really in control of his government, there would be some form of control of how Ministers ought to be traveling abroad.
