DEC seizes 150kg loose cannabis in Mboma village

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Western Province has seized 158kg of loose cannabis from households in Mboma village.

The 158kg of loose cannabis was seized from eleven households of Mboma village which were abandoned when officers conducted an operation in Nyambi area of Luampa District.

The Commission in Western Province has also arrested and jointly charged Esnart Chilyata, 23, and her husband Moses Ajumba, 27, both of Hikunikala village for trafficking in 88kg of loose Cannabis.

Others arrested are Joseph Zingilisa, 25, a peasant farmer of Mboma village for trafficking in 62.3kg of loose cannabis and Justin Mutandi, 23, also a peasant farmer of the same village for trafficking in 21kg of loose Cannabis.

Meanwhile, the Commission in Central Province has arrested a 70 year-old peasant farmer for trafficking in cannabis.
Lewis Mutinta, 70, a peasant farmer of Mwiinga village in Mumbwa District has been arrested for trafficking in 13.2kg of loose cannabis. Also arrested is Idah Kunda Chifita, 43, a businesswoman of Tazara Compound in Kapiri Mposhi for trafficking in 13.8kg of loose cannabis.

And in a related development, the Commission on the Copperbelt, has arrested and jointly charged Andrew Twambo a 70-year-old Congolese national of Kaputulu Farm in Luanshya and Musa Juma, 39, a peasant farmer of Chililabombwe for trafficking in 523.5g of cannabis.

All suspects will appear in court soon.
