Restrain your followers, Lungu tells fellow political leaders

Republican President Edgar Lungu has called on his fellow political leaders to restrain their followers to from engaging in acts violence.

Speaking to journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport shortly before departure for South Africa to attend the AU summit, President Lungu says he prays hard that Zambians should stay away from acts of violence.

President Lungu says all people despite their political affiliation should know that violence will not take them anywhere.

He says people should emulate him as no one has seen him attacking anyone physically.

President Lungu says people should strive to leave in peace and harmony.

He adds that even those who loose elections should accept the fact that they have lost and not resort to violence.

President Edgar Lungu has says the 25th Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government will focus on the girl child and women.

President Lungu will while in South Africa also attend a scheduled medical review.

President Lungu is accompanied by First Lady Esther Lungu who will attend the Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) on the margins of the AU Summit.

The Head of State will on 13th June deliver a keynote address on behalf of the Southern African region to a pre-summit meeting on the theme: “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.

On June 14th, President Lungu will attend the AU Committee of Ten (C-10) countries tasked to spearhead Africa’s lobby for the reform of the United Nations Security Council.
