Mwila alerts stakeholders POA will be reviewed even without their input

Government has alerted stakeholders not to complain if it reviews the Public Order Act without their input.

Home Affair Minister Davis Mwila says government is surprised that from time Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula called for submission of recommendations for reviewing the Act, no stakeholder has come forth with a proposal.

Mr. Mwila has told Qfm News in an interview that government through his Ministry and the Ministry of Justice will have to make decision even in the absence of submissions from other stakeholders.

He says his call therefore to political parties, the civil society and other stakeholders is that they bring forth their recommendations now when the consultation process is still open for submission of recommendations.

Mr. Mwila states that government does not want to work in isolation with respect to amending the Public Order Act.

He says this is particularly that there have been a number of complaints that the legislation in its current form is not conducive for a Democratic country like Zambia.
