DEC arrests Mulungushi student traffickers

The Drug Enforcement Commission in Central Province has arrested two students from Mulungushi University for trafficking in Cannabis.

The two students arrested are Ndambo Chinda, 22, for being in possession of 43 muffins containing Cannabis and Missael Mwanza, 23, for trafficking in loose Cannabis weighing 32.1g.

Commission Public Relations Manager Theresa Katongo says the duo has since pleaded guilty after appearing in the Kabwe Magistrates court on 9th June, 2015.

The case comes up for mention on 11th June, 2015.

Meanwhile, the Commission in Lusaka has arrested a 43 year-old female for trafficking in heroin.

Kelvina Simomba, 43, a businesswoman was apprehended from Lusaka’s Chaisa compound.

Also arrested in Lusaka is a 17-year-old boy of Bauleni Compound for trafficking in 29 sachets of heroin and loose Cannabis.

And the Commission in Kasama has arrested George Sikazwe, 32, a peasant farmer of Kasesha Village in Mbala District for trafficking in loose Cannabis weighing 28kg.

Others arrested and jointly charged include Moses Sichondwe, 25, of Kapoka Village and Febby Namukinbwe, 27, of Vwamba village both of Mpulungu District for trafficking in 2.3kg of loose Cannabis.

All the suspects will appear in court soon.
