The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is concerned that from time President Edgar Lungu made the pronouncement that the legislation will be amended; there has not been any given timeframe in which the amendment will be done.

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News in an interview that his organization believes that once government develops a clear roadmap for the amendment process as well as remains consistent in updating the nation on the progress being made; it will go a long way in proving that government is moving with deliberate haste to modernize the Public Order Act.

Mr. Cheembe says this is particularly that the legislation has been a source of conflict in the country for too long.
