Prisons Care and Counseling Association (PRISCCA) has commended President Edgar Lungu for pardoning Chisamba Member of Parliament Moses Muteteka on medical grounds.
PRISCCA Executive Director Godfrey Malembeka however, notes that the president should extend the same gesture to other ordinary prisoners with poor health.
Mr. Malembeka says the gesture by the president demonstrates that he has a heart for the people.
He has urged other prisoners in bad state of health and need the care of their families not to hesitate to petition the president for pardoning.
Mr. Malembeka notes that if people who are ill can be released from prison, it will help decongest prisons.
