Chanda defends ZP’s capacity to probe crimes against the State

The Zambia Police Service has dismissed assertions that it lacks capacity to conclusively investigate crimes against the State.

The Zambia Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) is concerned that each time the Zambia Police institutes instigations on crimes such as leakage of classified government documents, perpetrators of such crimes are hardly ever brought to book or prosecuted.

But Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda has told Qfm News in an interview that it is unfortunate that the capacity of the Zambia Police to investigate crimes can be questioned in this manner.

Ms. Chanda has explained that what people ought to know is that Police officers are not picked from the streets but professionally trained and specialize in different fields.

She explains that this entails that if a report of a crime is filed, there is a lot that is involved which the Police does not necessarily need to make public for fear of jeopardizing the investigations.
