Gender and Child Development Permanent Secretary Daisy Ngambi has charged that women empowerment is more than just giving women capital to start up their businesses.

Ms. Ngambi notes that women empowerment means that women should no longer fight for what is legally theirs but that it should be given to them with due respect and whole heartedly.

Ms. Ngambi notes that women empowerment should be empowering women in all areas such as making sure she has the power to deliver, making sure that a woman can own her own factory one day among others.

She has disclosed that her ministry has three programs that will be starting in October this year with the support by the World Bank citing that the programs include “keep the girl in school”, “count her in” and “from boys to men”.

Ms. Ngambi explains that these are very important programs that will help in uplifting the lives of women and girls in the country with support from men and boys.

She further states women and girls contribution to the economic development and the well being of the nation should not be underestimated.
