Govt target two million people to benefit from Social Cash Transfer Scheme

Government has targeted to reach about two million people under the Social Cash Transfer Scheme once it scales up the service to 103 districts across the country.

Community Development, Mother and Child Health Minister, Emerine Kabanshi says currently only 50 districts are covered under the social cash transfer scheme with 148,000 beneficiaries.

Ms Kabanshi says her ministry is determined to ensure as many people as possible benefit from the social cash transfer in a bid to alleviate poverty in the country.

Ms Kabanshi says this is not the only program government is using to eradicate poverty in the country, but other programs such as Food Security Pack where people are given fertilizer and seed to help them with their farming activities.
