Police arrest Mahtan for forgery

Police in Lusaka have arrested Finance Bank Chairman Dr. Rajan Mahtan and charged him with two counts of forgery.

Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga Chanda in statement issued to QFM News says Dr Mahtan was arrested this morning.

Ms Chanda says in both counts, Dr. Mahtan is alleged to have jointly and whilst acting with other persons unknown forged a Transfer of 500,000,000 Shares from Zambezi Portland Cement into Finsburg Investment Limited purporting that the forms were dully signed by the Directors of Zambezi Portland Cement when infact not.

She says the offences are alleged to have been committed on 12th December 2006.

Ms Chanda says Dr. Mahtan has been released on Police bond and will appear in court soon.

Meanwhile four unidentified people died on the spot along the Great North Road after being run over by a Mitsubishi Canter ABD 3499 driven by Captain Honkins Kamwale aged 45 of Kalewa Barracks.

Three of the four victims have been identified as Raha Osman Isse of Ndola, Mahado aliyusuf,38 a Somalian and Kalenda Mukulumpa aged 41 a Congolese national. The fourth victim has not been identified.

Police Spokesperson Charity Chanda says the accident happened between 03:00 and 04:00 hours today 2nd June, 2015.

Ms Chanda says the accident happened after the driver of the Mitsubishi canter failed to keep to his side of the road and went to hit the four who were relieving themselves by the road side after the Marcopolo Scania bus Registration. No. BNR 3 belonging to CR developed a fault.

She says Captain Kamwale has since been charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon.

In a related development, five people died on the spot after the Toyota Corolla Reg. No.ABJ 2826 they were travelling on hit into a Noah and a Truck which was coming in the opposite direction.

Ms Chanda says the driver of the corolla is among the dead.

She says the accident happened around mid night at New Kapiri hospital junction.

All the Nine bodies are lying in Kapiri Mposhi General Hospital Mortuary awaiting Postmortem.
