East Police Chief assures political parties of level playing field

Eastern Province Police Commissioner Eugene Sibote has pledged to provide a leveled playing field for all political parties taking part in the June 30th Malambo and Petauke Central Parliamentary by-elections.

Mr. Sibote has assured all political parties of fair treatment as they conduct their campaigns.

He has told Qfm News by telephone that while politics will be left to the political parties, his command will treat each and every political party equally.

Mr. Sibote has however, warned people that may intend to engage in political violence that Police will not look at which political party one is coming from in discharging their mandate.

He has disclosed that to this effect, 600 Police officers will be tentatively deployed on the ground in the two constituencies during the period leading to the by-elections.

The Eastern province Police Commissioner says each constituency will have 300 Police officers deployed in addition to those already in these areas.

He says the interest of the police is to ensure that peace and orderliness is sustained during and after the two by-elections.
