Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has appealed to government to expedite the construction of houses for teachers in all provinces.
PROTUZ General Secretary Albert Muyembe says teachers need descent accommodation if they are to carry out their duties in a way that is beneficial to the pupils and the country as a whole.
He notes that giving teachers such attention will be particularly motivating especially to teachers who have to travel long distances to get to work.
Mr. Muyembe says this means that while government is doing a commendable job of constructing classrooms in many of the schools, accommodation for teachers should also be given the attention it deserves.
