One Campaign sees hope in Africa

One Campaign, an international advocacy and campaigning organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease, says there is still hope that Africa can be free from hunger and disease if people get united.

Speaking during a media workshop in Lusaka this afternoon, One Campaign Media Coordinator for Africa Idriss Nassah says there is need for the Africans to ensure that they hold their leaders to account if they have to live in dignity.

Mr. Nassah says it is for this reason that One Campaign has embarked on a program called ‘poverty sexiest’ which is aimed at eradicating poverty in Africa.

He states that One Campaign has been instrumental in ensuring that Africa meets the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which has yielded some positive results in some African countries.

Mr Nassah adds that One Campaign has also been instrumental in ensuring that African countries honor the Maputo Declaration by ensuring that governments allocate more than 10 percent of their annual budgets to the agriculture sector as a way of reducing the poverty levels in Africa.
