PRISCCA urges Zambians to embrace ex-convicts

The Prisons Care and Counseling Association (PRISCCA) has appealed to Zambians to continue embracing those being released from prison through the presidential pardon.

President Lungu on Monday, May 25th released 177 prisoners in commemoration of the Africa freedom day.

PRISCCA Executive Director Godfrey Malembeka says society should accept and render any kind of support to those that have been released so that they can begin their life after prison.

Mr Malembeka says he is hopeful that those that have been released under the presidential pardon have been rehabilitated and learnt their lesson and will not go back to committing crimes.

He since thanked President Lungu for the first time releasing inmates from Mukobeko maximum prison under the presidential pardon.

Mr Malembeka has further advised the released prisoners to prove to society that they have been rehabilitated by not going back to their old ways of committing crimes.
