Deadline is October- ZCTU corrects govt

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has argued that the recognized deadline to conclude negotiations for improved conditions of service is October and not December.

President Edgar Lungu when announcing the lifting of the wage freeze directed Cabinet office to ensure negotiations for improved conditions of service for civil servants are concluded by December 2015.

But ZCTU Deputy Secretary General Elaston Njobvu explains that this is so because the budget cycle ends in October and not March like the case was in the past.

And Mr. Njobvu says government’s imposition of alien policies for Zambian workers will not help the country in any way.

He says government should stop imposing foreign policies on the workers if they are to prioritize employment creation more especially for the young people.
