High cases of drug trafficking worries ZADAF

ZADAFThe Zambia Anti-Drug Abuse Foundation (ZADAF) has attributed the increasing cases of drug trafficking in Zambia to the porous borders and weak boarder control.

ZADAF Director Paul Chikwete tells QFM News that even the geographic position of Zambia on major trafficking routes crossing between South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Malawi is also contributing to the increasing cases of drug trafficking.

Mr. Chikwete says drug trafficking in Zambia is grooming due to de rapid expansion of international road and air links.

He says Zambia is getting a well developing transportation system, modern communications and banking systems, long porous borders and weak border control have made Zambia a natural target for drug traffickers.

He adds that desperate and unemployed youth are being lured by syndicates with promise of easy money into becoming drug couriers and the over flow of drugs is also finding way on the market.
