UPND accuses PF of hijacking constitution making process

The Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has accused the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) of hijacking the constitution making process.

UPND Lubwa Ward Councilor Chisankama Mudenda says the PF were accusing former party secretary general Wynter Kabimba of sitting on the constitution but even after he left the party, they have not enacted a new constitution.

Mr. Mudenda says the PF should not accuse opposition political parties and the various stakeholders demanding for the enactment of a new constitution of hijacking the process but come out to the open and tell the people that they do not want to enact a new constitution.

He says piece meal amendments of the constitution is not what the people of Zambia want and hence government should do what is in the best interest of the people of Zambia which is enacting a new constitution which will be adopted through a referendum.

Meanwhile the UPND says it is saddened by the passing on the PF Bangweulu Member of Parliament Chifita Matafwali.

Mr. Mudenda says the passing on of Mr. Matafwali is a loss to the PF, the people of Bangweulu and the nation as a whole.
