Sub-Chief Natende urges Cassava trade for Luapula

Sub-Chief Natende of the Bwile people of Chiengi District has appealed to players in agriculture marketing to focus on purchasing Cassava in Luapula province as the marketing season opens.

Sub-Chief Natende who is former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba says this is because it has now become clear that it will not be viable for the people of Luapula province to trade in Rice and Maize this marketing season.

He has told Qfm News from Chiengi that it is not expected that Luapula province will yield any significant rice or maize that can be sold on the commercial market because the province was badly affect by the erratic rainfall the country experienced.

Sub-Chief Natende states that the Province on the other hand expects better yields from the Cassava crop.

He says this is because this year’s cassava yield has not been affected by the erratic rainfall experienced.

The traditional leader notes that Cassava farmers in his area should be ready to go on the market by the beginning of July.
