Listen to cries of Zambians- Chipata activist advises govt

Chipata Based Civil Rights Activist Alick Mwanza has advised government to listen to the cries of the majority Zambians on the enactment of the new constitution.

Mr. Mwanza says the people have made it clear that they do not want the constitution to be amended in phases, but want it to be adopted through a referendum.

Mr. Mwanza says government should try to understand why people want the new constitution to be adopted through a referendum.

He says government will be going against the wishes of the majority Zambians by going ahead with amendments to Parliament.

Mr Mwanza has however noted that people should also try to understand why government has maintained that the constitution be amended in phases.

He notes the need for government and those against piecemeal amendments to meet each other half way.

Mr. Mwanza states that it is hoped that the final decision will not be in favor of anyone but the poor majority Zambians.
