Msiska urges computerization of Public Service record management system

Secretary to the Cabinet Rowland Msiska has directed all Public Service Institutions to set aside funds in the 2016 Budget and subsequent Budgets to facilitate the computerization of the record management system in the Public Service.

Speaking during the launch of the Public Service Records Management Policy and the revised Registry Service Manual in Lusaka today, Dr. Msiska says government has put in place measures to computerize the record management system.

Dr. Msiska, in a speech read on his behalf by his Deputy Peter Kasanda, says the computerization of the record management system in the Public Service will result in increased efficiency in delivery of public service.

Dr. Msiska states that he is certain that the public service record management policy and the registry service manual will enhance the implementation of records management systems and procedures.

He says to this end, he has directed that all government institutions acquaint themselves with the provisions of the two documents in order to improve the registry services in their respective institutions.

Speaking at the same event, Public Service Management Division (PSMD) Permanent Secretary Velepi Mtonga says management of records in the public service has raised a lot of concerns for a long time now.

Dr. Mtonga says it is hoped that the development of the new Public Service Records Management policy and the revised registry service manual will adequately provide government institutions with principles and guidelines to efficiently manage records in the public service.
