ACC Commissioners back Wandi

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Board of Commissioners has passed a vote of confidence in ACC Director General Rosewin Wandi describing her as a professional of high integrity.

The ACC Commissioners have since dismissed as irresponsible calls by National Revolution Party (NRP) President Cosmo Mumba for countrywide protests to force Ms Wandi out of office.

ACC Chairperson Justice Timothy Kabalata has told a media briefing in Lusaka that the commissioWANDI ACCn received a letter from the NRP Leader on Friday 15th May, 2015 demanding for the resignation of Ms Wandi on moral grounds.

Justice Kabalata says there are no valid grounds to cause Ms Wandi to resign on moral grounds and that such calls are uncalled for.

He says Ms Wandi is a professional director of high integrity and that the Board of Directors has confidence in her leadership.

He says the leaking of the letter that was written to President Edgar Lungu informing him that the Commission was investigating corruption allegations against his Special Assistant for Political Affairs Kaizer Zulu was not leaked to the media by Ms Wandi as argued by Dr. Mumba.

Justice Kabalata says the attack by Dr. Mumba is not just directed at the ACC Director General, but also at the entire Board Members and staff of the Commission.

Justice Kabalata has vowed to defend the integrity of the Commission, adding that the commission will not be intimidated by any individual but will stand to fight corruption effectively.
