Chama warns opposition of extinction

Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Chama has warned opposition parties of extinction unless they continue proving their relevance.

Mr Chama has however stated that the PF has no intention of taking Zambia back to a One Party State.

In a statement obtained by QFM News, Mr Chama says the PF believes that Zambia must always remain a multi-party democracy were opposition parties exist to provide sufficient checks and balances, stating tDavies Chama laughshat this is one democratic space the ruling party will continue to respect without any reservation.

He states that the opposition can suffer extinction for refusing to adapt to new demands.

Mr Chama says today’s Zambia demands that the opposition become a position of new ideas and constructive criticism and not the typical adversarial politics.

He says while it is not in the interest of a thriving democracy to see weakened political competitors, the PF will not take the blame when some opposition parties settle for self-destruction modes.

Mr Chama adds that the PF’s national character, coupled with its progressive agenda for an inclusive and better Zambia, and President Edgar Lungu’s transformational leadership are sufficient to prove to all those seeking a political home, that PF is the party of choice.

He further states that with the high standards being set by the PF leadership and the synergy with the ordinary membership, opposition parties will have to work twice as hard to retain their members.
