ZNWL partners with Free Press Unlimited to train 200 women

Zambian National Women’s Lobby (ZNWL) has partnered with Free Press Unlimited to train 200 women who are aspiring to contest in next year’s tripartite elections.

The project dubbed ‘Count Me In’ is aimed at training women in effective leadership and the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT).

ZNWL Executive Director Juliet Chibuta says the project is being implemented in Kabwe, Kapiri Mposhi, Mufulira, Chililabombwe, Lusaka and Monze.

She said her organisation has engaged all the active political parties in the selection process and all the women participating in the training were chosen by their respective political parties.

Ms Chibuta said the women would be trained in the use of ICTs such as the internet for research and documentation and social media as a communication and campaign tool.

She explained that the leadership training had been designed to include aspects of leadership development and fund raising for an election campaign stating that the lack of funds has been identified as one of the reasons why many women have not been successful in elections.
