Govt will not condone wastage of public resource – Veep

Vice President Inonge Wina says government will not condone the wastage of public resource for infrastructure development meant to improve the lives of people.

Mrs. Wina noted with disappointment that out of five storage sheds that were to be constructed at FRA premises in Mbala only one has been completed.

She said government is not happy to see the project which was fully funded remain incomplete after the contractor abandoned the project.

The vice president said this when she visited the FRA sheds and found that works on the four storage sheds had stalled at slab level.

Mrs. Wina has since directed the provincial administration to follow up the matter and ensure that the contractor finishes the project.

And the vice president has directed the contractor working on the Mbala – Nakonde road to expedite the works.

Mrs. Wina who expressed happiness over the quality of the road works however, cautioned the contractor not to compromise the quality of the road in the quest to complete the road on time.

The Vice President was in Mbala to check on developmental projects.
