Zambian cannot afford to enact ATI Law – ZYAFAC

Zambia Youths in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) says Zambia cannot afford not to enact the Access to Information Bill because it has been founded on Democratic tenets.

ZYAFAC believes Zambia’s democracy also dictates that whether a government likes or not there must be free flow of information in the country.

Executive Director Rickson Kanema says this is why his organization is appealing to President Edgar Lungu not to think twice about having the Access to Information Bill enacted into law on account of a few irresponsible media organizations.

Mr. Kanema states that ZYAFAC firmly believes that the enactment of this bill into law will in fact enhance help the fight against corruption and misappropriation of public funds with the vigor they deserve.

He adds that once enacted into law, President Lungu will himself appreciate running a government that is full of transparency and accountability.
