Call for an economic Indaba, Lungu advised

Republican President Edgar Lungu has been called upon to call for an economic indaba with different stakeholders to help address the challenges Zambia’s economy is currently facing.

Timber Producers Association of Zambia (TPAZ) Vice President Charles Masange says there is need to consider other sectors that can help the country earn foreign exchange such as the timber industry in order to boost the economy.

Mr. Masange notes that if well managed; the timber industry has the potential to boost help boost Zambia’s economy.

Mr. Masange says Zambia should stop being over dependant on copper as a major export by diversifying to sectors such agriculture.

He has since encouraged the PF government to embrace to look to timber industry especially with the increased timber export to China.

And Mr. Masange has commended Lands Minister Christabel Ngimbu for bring sanity in the timber industry.

He says it is a known fact that the previous Lands Ministers did little to help timber producers in the country.
