Govt commended for allocating K7.5M to Zambia Council for the Handicapped

Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) has commended government for allocating K7.5million for re-employment of retrenched workers and payment of terminal benefits for retired workers of the Zambia Council for the Handicapped.

ZAPD Director for Rehabilitation and Research Mwiya Muya says government has shown true leadership by paying attention to the concerns of persons with disabilities.

Mr. Muya says the funds have come at the right time when the agency is facing serious challenges such as paying the retired workers at the Zambia Council for the Handicapped.

Mr. Muya says ZAPD is overwhelmed and only hopes that the funds will be disbursed on time.

Community Development, Mother and Child Health Minister Emerine Kabanshi has since directed the ZAPD board to come up with a transparent modality on how the funds will be released in phases.
