SACCORD concerned Eastern Province slowly being turned battlefield

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has expressed concern that Eastern Province is slowing turning into a battle field ahead of the June Parliamentary by-elections.

SACCORD which has monitors in the Province, notes that the battle is being created by the two major political parties which are the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) and the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News that his organization is however advising both political parties to desist at all cost from any activities that will threaten peace in the Province which is due have the Malambo and Petauke Central Parliamentary by-elections.

Mr. Cheembe has cautioned the two political parties to be mindful that the credibility of the by-election rely on having a peaceful atmosphere.

He says the people of Malambo and Petauke Central constituencies deserve to have their representatives elected in a peaceful environment and without any intimidation.
