Former Church of God overseer John Mambo has observed that the opposition has only managed to provide emotional checks and balances to President Edgar Lungu since he assumed office.

Bishop Mambo says such emotional checks and balances appear to be driven by the desire to go to State House.

In an interview with Qfm News, Bishop Mambo has however noted that President Lungu is lucky on the other hand that the same cannot be said about the Church.

He says this is because the Church does not take political positions and therefore cannot render emotional checks and balances.

Bishop Mambo says opposition political parties in the country should always keep in mind the fact that they are governments in waiting whenever they are thinking of giving checks and balances to the Head of State.

Bishop Mambo has also urged opposition political parties in the country to emulate the British type of politics where after election results have been announced winners are congratulated by handshake and losers accept defeat.
