Chief Lubunda prefers chiefs are ‘killed’ than strip them powers over land

Chief Lubunda of the Lunda speaking people of Mwense District in Luapula province says it is better to kill chiefs than to go ahead and enact a constitution with Article 296 which proposes to strip chiefs’ powers over land.

The Traditional Leader says there is no point in enacting a constitution that proposes to take away powers from chiefs.

Chief Lubunda says from time immemorial, chiefs have been the custodian of land and it would be wrong to get such powers from them.

He adds that he does not tolerate anyone abusing land in his chiefdom.

And the traditional leader has hailed the PF government saying they are doing a great job in developing the nation.

Chief Lubunda says he has seen governments come in and go and that the governance strategy adopted by the PF is motivating.

Chief Lubunda has told journalists in Mwense today that the district is developing bit by bit with the construction of roads and other major projects.
