Mwila assures nation of transparency in mobile NRC issuance

Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila has assured the nation of transparency in the mobile issuance of National Registration Cards (NRCs) which has commenced today.

Mr. Mwila has told Qfm news in an interview that contrary to some media reports suggesting that the mobile NRC issuance is being done secretly to the advantage of the ruling party, the process had delayed because registration officers were not dispatched on time.

Mr. Mwila stresses that the exercise is a government programme and that all eligible Zambians have the right to have their National Registration Card.

He explains that immediately after the launch was done on 30th April ,2015, the exercise was supposed to commence on 1st May, 2015, but only commenced today due to certain challenges.

Mr Mwila states that government has nothing to hide and hopes to ensure that all eligible persons are issued the national identity document in accordance with the law.

Mr. Mwila adds that there will be no discrimination in the issuance of the National Registration Cards regardless of one’s political affiliation.

The first phase of the mobile issuance of national registration cards has started in northern,Muchinga and central provinces while phase two will carter for southern, eastern, western and Lusaka provinces.
