It is hypocritical for unions to take credit from lifting of wage freeze – Activist

Lusaka based political activist Lonely Tatila has observed that it is hypocritical for the labour movement in the country to take any credit from President Edgar Lungu’s decision to lift the wage freeze.

Mr. Tatila has reminded the labour movement that workers already know who has been on their side during the hard times when the wage freeze was being implemented.

He has told Qfm News he vividly recalls that when the Patriotic Front government imposed the wage freeze the labour movement was not as vocals as they want to be today after the imposition has been revoked.

Mr. Tatila has however commended the media and opposition political parties for standing against the wage freeze.

He says his advice to public service workers on the other hand is that they never get over excited over the decision by President Lungu to lift the wage freeze.

Mr. Tatila wants workers to be wary that politicians have a tendency of changing their statements at any time.
