The government is being advised to release funds to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for it to start putting in place all the necessary logistics to start working on voter registration.

The Zambian Voice has suggested that if the country is to have a good and smooth 2016 general elections there is further need to right away commence voter registration especially in rural areas.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali says his organization holds the view that updating of the voter register should also commence this year to enable new entrants and effect any transfers.

Mr. Tayali has told Qfm News that this is order that by the time that it is September 2016 much progress would have been done towards holding the general elections.

He says this in turn will enable the country to have not only a smooth general election but that which is also transparent.
