The Zambia Climate Change Network (ZCCN) says Zambia should be concerned that it has been ranked among the top ten countries with the highest deforestation rates in the world.

Network Coordinator Chileshe Musonda has told QFM News that it is for this reason that his organization has been advocating for concerted efforts in curbing deforestation in the country.

Mr. Musonda says his organization is promoting the implementation of environmental programs such as tree planting and conservation in a bid to help conserve the environment.

He says his organization is also promoting awareness so that communities are educated on the need to conserve the environment.

Mr. Musonda notes that information sharing is important and that the country cannot just depend on government alone in the conservation of the environment, but that everyone should play a part in curbing deforestation.
