Kabwe defends relevance of office of DC

Kitwe District Commissioner Chanda Kabwe has defended the relevance of the office of District Commissioner in national development and governance.

Mr. Kabwe says those calling for the abolition of the office of District Commissioner on the basis that it is more of a political office than government are doing so out of ignorance.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Kabwe says from his experience as a District Commissioner he has come to the realization that the office of District Commissioner is in fact the link between the people and the government.

Mr. Kabwe says this is because the District Commissioner is the one who coordinates all government programs in a District on behalf of the Head of State besides implementing the manifesto of the party in power.

He says even at the time Members of Parliament are attending to Parliament business, District Commissioners are the ones that look into the plight of the people.
