Low power supply is hindering investments in Luapula – Kalumba

Former Chiengi Member of Parliament Katele Kalumba has lamented that the low power supply to Luapula province is hindering major investments in the province.

Dr. Kalumba who is also former Finance Minister says the fact that Districts such as Chiengi are at the extreme end of the distribution line makes the district to be worst affected when it comes to electricity supply.

He has told Qfm News from Chiengi that despite people being thankful that government has been able to secure power for their household needs, power supply needs to be upgraded if the District is to attract major investments.

Dr. Kalumba however states that he has taken note of some pronouncements that have been made to that Kundabwika Falls could be a very good sitting for a hydro power project with an estimated capacity to produce about 54 megawatts.

He notes that if this project was to be realized, it will reduce the power pressure in Luapula province.
