Govt to continue respecting role of Chiefs

Government says it will continue to respect, recognize and appreciate the role that traditional leaders play in the economic development of the country.

Speaking when opened a conference for female chiefs as advocates of peace and stability in Zambia, Vice President Inonge Wina says female traditional leaders are very instrumental in preaching peace and stability in the country because of the authority they have.

Ms Wina notes that without peace and stability it would be difficult for the country to achieve democracy and sustainable development.

She says there is need for Zambians and especially traditional leaders to continue preaching peace and stability.

Ms. Wina has further urged Zambians to continue with the spirit of unity especially as the country heads towards the 2016 general elections.

And house of Chiefs Chairperson Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II says to achieve peace and stability, there should be good governance.

She points out that she is confident that the programme of using female chiefs as advocates of peace and stability has made a positive impact in emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the country.
